National publisher kills Spokane journalist’s book - [Amanullah] sent e-mails to about 200 graduate students in Islamic studies, telling them of Spellberg's "frantic" call and asking if they had heard about the novel. "What I got back was a collective shrug of the shoulders," says Amanullah. "The thing that is surreal for me is that here you had a non-Muslim write a book, and you had a non-Muslim complain about it, and a non-Muslim publisher pull the book." (August 20, 2008)
Self censoring Muslims - "But Amanullah says he never wanted the book pulled. 'I'm upset the book wasn't published,' he said, 'not because I agree or disagree with the book.' For him, 'I don't want to be in the position where we are stifling speech. Preemptive censorship is not in our interest. That's worse than even censorship. Muslim Leader, or super-secret assassin?
Are American Muslims asleep at the wheel? One of their self-appointed leaders gets caught arranging an assassination, and nobody seems to care.

It's bad enough that Abdurrahman Alamoudi, former leader of the American Muslim Council and several other American Muslim organizations, got caught with his hand in the illegal money cookie jar last year, when he tried to smuggle into the US wads of cash that he took from a Libyan agent. Now, it appears that he played a part in a secret plan by Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi (you know, the one that used to be our enemy but is now our friend?) to assassinate Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia (you know, the one who is our friend but might be our enemy?) Now in custody, Alamoudi seems to have spilled the beans on his secret life as someone who enables regime change the old fashioned way - by arranging assassinations with the help of $2 million in Libyan money. His statements match those of Mohamed Ismael, a Libyan operative being held by Saudi Arabia for participating in the plot. While the sordid details of this case remain unclear (and, quite frankly, it's hard to care much about the fate of either the Saudi or Libyan heads of state), back at home, the American Muslim community doesn't seem to care that someone who has been entrusted with the well-being of the Muslim community has - by his own admission - smuggled money into the country while acting out a "James Bond" fantasy of facilitating a potentially destabilizing assassination. And still, some Muslims saw it fit to give Alamoudi a " Community Service Award" only a month ago. "Verily, never will Allah change the condition of a people," says the Qur'an, "until they change it themselves." Any takers?

Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't assassination against the Qur'an? I honsetly don't know. I am not sure if it gets specific in the bible, but there is always one of the Ten Commandments "Thou shalt not kill". I think that would apply even if you set it up and don't do the actual killing. This man was leader of the American Muslim Council and now this comes out? I think it could end up created more of a problem for Muslims then what you folks already have to deal with. There is enough paranoia in this country towards muslims in general and I don't think this is going to help. I guess the old saying rings true "When it rains it pours". Now is Gadhafi a Muslim? I have heard conflicting reports on this matter.
