  Terror accusations
Undoing a character assassination
The US found no evidence to link 25 American Muslim organizations to terrorism, but many of the groups have been irreversibly harmed in the process.

Nearly two years ago, US Senator and chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Chuck Grassley (R-IA) ordered the IRS to investigate 25 American Muslim organizations and charities which he claimed "finance terrorism and perpetuate violence". However, observers did not have to wait for the results to pass their own judgement. Listed organizations were described as "terror-linked" and "terrorist sympathizers," "controversial" groups with "disturbing connections" to terrorism.

References to groups such as ISNA - the most prominent and largest of the targeted groups - were prefaced by "government probe" and "under investigation," thereby conferring on them the full damage of the accusation without bothering to wait for the outcome. That outcome came this week when Grassley announced that his committee "did not find anything alarming" in their probe, which concluded with no plans to issue a report, forward findings to law enforcement, or hold any additional hearings.

While the findings have been welcomed by ISNA and other investigated groups (and dismissed by terrorism investigator Steven Emerson), it does raise questions about government efforts to root out terror support in the US. Why give potential terrorists advance notice to hide records by publicly announcing an investigation? Is it really necessary to conduct a "scorched earth" campaign that leaves no Muslim organization untainted by the stench of terror accusations? And will we ever get past the mindset that says a Muslim organization is potentially linked to terror until proven otherwise?

Many of the accused groups have since folded, unable to continue operations in light of the probe. These groups are never are really proven innocent - they are merely subjected to "ongoing investigations." Americans who are truly concerned about the fight against terrorism can come to only one of two conclusions: either US authorities are hopelessly lost in their search for terrorists four years after 9/11 and have resorted to fishing expeditions (our pick), or they have been outsmarted by Muslim groups who are secretly supporting terror and are somehow able to withstand the full weight of federal and media scrutiny (a battle winnable, of course, by shutting down said organisations without proof). After four years of supposedly honing our anti-terrorism efforts, this sad state of affairs should give everyone pause.

YUP! Big, cumbersome welfare states are often simply incapable of responding adequately and sensibly; there are just too many cooks in the kitchen and everyone is looking to get promoted and not get thier noses dirty. Speaking of cumbersome welfare states, I'm completely amazed that the French government (which is centralized and doesn't have states like in the US) *permitted* riots to continue for over TWO WEEKS. No wonder people think they can rob the Lourve...

well it does not help that there are prominent proggies who've been making wild accusations about ISNA leadership ---
You should've had a link to those progressive moslem types as well in your list of those who make all kinds of nonsensical accusations.

(Not that i'm a big fan of ISNA but...)

I thought about that, but I wanted to make a distinction between those who label ISNA as "backward", etc. and those who make accusations of supporting terrorism. Reasonable people can disagree about ISNA's religious or political stances, but there is no place for unfounded accusations of terror support.

>>well it does not help that there are prominent proggies who've been making wild accusations about ISNA leadership<<

Asalamu Aliakum,
I was thinking about this also. While proggies have not promoted charges of terrorism, they certainly were along for the ride beating the neocon drum of wahabist conspiracy theories.

Well, the Alamoudi case did nothing to reassure people, however... I'm certain there are even more shady financial dealings going on in the old Hawwalah networks. Oh, I love the google as for "U.S. Army Special Forces" on the side of the page; change it to Marines and you'll have me hooked ;-)

Newsflash . . . . .

This same group of organizations and their one American based leader you are speaking about, have been recently ordered closed by their leader's leader.

The leader has been told to, shut down all websites and leave America and I am getting this directly from the American leaders own mouth. This was before Rajab. About mid Shaban, I heard directly from this leaders mouth - God as my witness, that he intends to reactivate the site or sites and their was no mention about the order to close and leave America - as if it never happened. It is thus fair to assume that is still a standing order and he is going against that order. I would love to see proof to the contrary if this assumption is wrong. Having had clear information regarding the removal of authrization and permission to opperate in America we must have clear confirmation of any changes in that order.

I have saught the tax returns from several of these organizations as required and received a direct verbal refusal to release them. The refusal to release such public documents is punishable by a forty dollar a day fine. We have every intention of continuing efforts to obtain these records but will not enter the system to seek legal recourse.

It seems important that this be known now even though it has already caused be much difficulty with some of the blind followers who do not want to open their eyes and take a hard look.

I do not believe that this person in question is acting responsibly and I do believe that he is placing a black eye on the otherwise very respectable Leader's Leader.

This is just more of the problems that happen when immigrant Muslims come to the land of dunya and attempt to lead people and a culture they know nothing about.

Yes, Muslim, Go Home.

Dude, who ARE you?

This was a bit confusing . . .

"God as my witness, that he intends to reactivate the site or sites and their was no mention about the order to close and leave America - as if it never happened."

It should read . . . .

"God as my witness, that he intends to reactivate the site or sites. (FULL STOP) There was no FURTHER mention about the order to close (THE WEBSITES) and leave America - as if it never happened."

Someone who is happy being left alone but am now forced to speak. I have no choice but to speak. Allah as my witness, I would rather remain unknown - but I think those days are over.

One of the other major problems in America are these self promoting indigenous Sheikhs competing with each other to see who can sell more copyrighted CD's and audio tapes. I am not interested in self promotion. I do not wish to become the next ISNA posterboy, although given what I am saying with the "Mulsim Go Home" theme, there is little chance of me ever being invited to speak.

I beginning to think the "unFriendly combatant" isnt a Muslim.

>>I would rather remain unknown - but I think those days are over.<<

I ask this a medical professional, are you mentally disabled or on any sort of meds?

I suspect I'll be acused of much worse than that in order to deflect away from the real issue at hand.

This is fully anticipated, but I'm affraid it will not work. You need to try something new.

Actually, FC, no one has to try anything. Your fraud is clear. Go ahead, post again. Keep us entertained.

At least "character Assasination" isn't fatal, can be reversible, and occasionally benefits the victim. The same can't be said of real assassinations performed by so-called "Islamic" terrorists.

By repeatedly invoking violent analogies in a non-violent context, you are diminishing the gulf between violent and non-violent acts, attempting to portray the violent acts as closer to acceptable by comparison. Isn't that a shameful thing to do?

Sol makes a brilliant point, so bright it's hard to keep my eyes on the screen. Character assassination is different that actual violence, like pouring phosphorous on Falujian civilians, or Apache launched rockets at crammed Gaza apartment buildings, or insurgents blowing up worshippers in a mosque, or Michigan militia nuts exploding a federal building (with a day care full of kids) in OK, or napalming or mustard gassing Vietnamese or Palestinians, or more than a decade of international indifference and embargo that slowly killed hundreds of thousands of children (whom God will never forget), or the untold loss of civilian lives lost in what is still called the "Iraq war" spurned on my Evangelical morons who don't have to hide in caves but are as open as the sun in DC and strings of churches in the south, or the designs of Zionist propagandists who have essentially taken over so much of the Christian evangelic imagination to carry out unbelievable violence in the name of, letÌs see, Democracy, Freedom, and Joy. Dang, Sol! Like I said, you da man!

Migocup - the primary audience is the many thousands of converts who have been forced out of your Arab and Pakistani country clubs posing as Masjids and driven away from Islam. Then and the average American citizen who grows weary of the governments loose immigration laws. I am not here to convert the hypocrites, just warn them.

FC, I truly have no idea what you're saying or have said. I don't think I'm alone here. So don't bother.

>>At least "character Assasination" isn't fatal, can be reversible, and occasionally benefits the victim. The same can't be said of real assassinations performed by so-called "Islamic" terrorists. <<

More spin from our local neocon apolgist for zionist terrorism. Tell that to the families of Rachel Corrie and Iman al-Hams.

>>By repeatedly invoking violent analogies in a non-violent context, you are diminishing the gulf between violent and non-violent acts, attempting to portray the violent acts as closer to acceptable by comparison. Isn't that a shameful thing to do?<<

Isnt it shameful of you to keep insisting that such tactics as making bravenly false accusions are ok because they're "non-violent." McCarthysm could also be called "non-violent" despite destroying the lives and reputations of many people by overzealous fanatics, the type whose ideology and agenda you support. We know ofcourse that when it comes to immoral, unethical and criminal conduct zionists are the way to go.

Just like Bush had no choice but to invade Iraq, he had no choice but to contain Muslim organizations in USA. Don't believe me? Read "Who are We?" by Sam Huntington.

The rootcause of the so-called American-Muslim organizational round-up is classic Americana, culturally insensitive and ignorant, nowhere more appropriately stated then "you are with us or against us". Americans are basically bufoons. And I say this while looking in the mirror.

They are too used to air-conditioning, drivebys, hollywood, football, beer, guns, stock market gambling, lotto and other buffonery. They think cash can buy everything, from slick-haired pakistanian doctors, loose limbed russian "models" to cheap chinese manufactured goods.

unfortunately, cash has not been able to buy them insider status to a terrorist group of any kind. When asked of CIAs collosal failure in weeding out the terrorists, one expert opined, "its hard to infiltrate islamic terror cells, the people dont booze up fornicate or indulge in other enjoyable activities. As a result, its hard to recruit spies who want to put up a 4-6 year stint with such puritans. When the Soviet Union was there, we had little trouble finding recruits due to the abundance of Russian vodka and women in Soviet assignments."

So it is no surprise that the American Gov't is lost at sea. Anybody who says "Allahu-Akbar" is probably a terrorist. Which is why people like Friendly Combatant are trying to do away with Salat altogether.

What Americans need basically is something called AUSTERITY. A nice healthy dose of austerity over say a 5-year span. And believe me, watch how quickly Americans become sensitive, attentive, discerning and gracious.

Cut the consumption of oil to 1/3rd, the whole world's problems will be solved. Once the economy shrinks and people stop buying unnecessary Chinese goods, even China will stop hogging oil. Really quite simple. Women will stop working as most of the job cuts will affect women. At home, they will save instead of wasting. Children will have atleast one parent to watch over them.

I could go on and on. Heck, we wont need camps for Muslims anymore. Can you imagine an America without camps for Muslims????? I cant.
